Well i thought that i would use up the remaining empty space thread on this forum by asking everyones views on VW transaxles..Like Beetle and Caravelle ,Transporter type ones! I have been informed that they are virtualy the same as the Hewland casing Type 9(?). Years ago i had a VW Variant twin carb 1600 and the box was great apart from a sloppy worn gear change. Thinking ahead it is just that i have had a Fiat twin cam engine unit adaptor for a VW transaxle for some time, and it may be a good thing to use a Fiat Twin cam engine for DJL Mk 1. I take it to use in a rear/midships installation the transaxle would have to be turned upside down!
Excuse me for mentioning an engine over 1000cc by the way!
I would like to use an Imp engine really so i may try to adapt /adapt the adaptor to fit an Imp unit to VW transaxle...Thinking it will handle handle 150 say bhp of a S/C engine better than a glorious Imp transaxle

It may be of use to someone to know that i have a"assumed" VW transaxle to Imp driveshaft transmission conversion set up on ebay. That is a CV joint affair rather than the rotoflex couplings. So that means i have not only a Fiat Twin Cam or Lada single ohc adaptor for a VW transaxle but this as well.
