It's already been indicated an entry to a proposed race will cost say in excess of 200 pounds,so i think it may be of interest to prospective members to have an idea what a seasons involvement would cost!
From experience in National series Karting we found that the overall annual budget would be some #10000 ..some 15 races in different catagories and test days.
Could existing competitors (if it is not too personal) such as those in say HSCC give the general idea what the all in cost/budget is ..Thats including everything ..Logistics food and so on!
As for the vehicle i can imagine the starting from scratch costs to prepare will be lots in this day and age!
For my part i re-acquired HGH (A Hillman Imp) for X amount of pounds and have spent say #1000 pounds on top to revamp!
The initial cost has been nearly halved due to the van load of.. erm..bits and pieces that came with it and were not required/ recycled on ebay ,or likewise.
A good reason then perhaps to acquire an abandoned project rather than start from scratch as usually a race car can be bought for a fraction of build costs. Revamping to your own needs can be cost inventive.
For those heart sent in using an existing road car say then.. An approach like i did initially with HGH was to compete, then do a bit more as time went by!
That is spend all the money in preparing for safety and rules regs even it is a standard car and just use it!
I think a mistake is to spend years doing a car and by the time it is finished it is either uncompetitive or not eledgble for entry!
On the latter i think 100/1000 society should adapt a timeless situation in rules/regs to allow a unique race series to be a long term thing!
That is why i am in favour in a 50% selfish "free formula", situation!
