Hi all, some info on what went on on the revival of the mod sport and saloon cars at Mallory mid week.
We had 2 days to prep the car from the weekend at Anglesy. All was going well untill the bonnet departed from my car on the m62 so after big ste found it half in bits we made some hasty repairs and off we went.
Anyhow around 43 cars turned out with 3 spacerame imps. Col hadnt made it due to some severe bad luck and a couple of others had to drop out.
Any how the test went real good and first off i managed to get some laps in and a feel for the circuit. The start straight leads into a long right hander and speaking with my friend whos drove the track many times. He says part way through if you are quick its arse flap time and you will scream for your mum. I musnt have been quick and pottered around it. The car felt strong with no issues so Andy Jones took to the seat and knowing the circuit went well. There were alot of big cars out, but everything was gentlemanly with no incidents.
The test went real good and the organisers who I had spoken with , with regrads to the type of cars we are hoping to race were very intrigued by our plans on the HTS and have said there will be definatley 4 races next year. So sounds good.
The highlight of the test was when Big Berth was out, The car came roaring down the front straight Pasted Jonesy and headed into turn one with Jonesy stuck hard on his tail and flat out round the back part of the circuit.
When he brought the car back to the pits and jumped out with a big smile, he explained that he felt he could have gone flat out in 4 gear and took Berth on the outside of turn one, but didnt think the organisers would have been impressed. We all just stood there and burst into tears of laughs. I was happy the car was in one piece hahhahaah.
Hopefully we will have Col on board for the series. Im sure it will be a big step forward and help get these small cc cars back out racing.
Regards
Mike
