Managed to get hold of a plywood parcel shelf diaphragm, can't believe my luck, got it off an ex member of the Clan Club and it was the last one he had. Made a new one from it and saved that as a pattern. Another stroke of luck with the headlight adjusting rims, I've hunted high and low for them and the same chap had some new old stock ones, didn't let any more dust settle and snapped them up, rapid. Hope to fibreglass the sill, parcel shelf diaphragms and also the sun roof in this week. When I've done this, I start on the suspension. So if anyone has any helpful advice and ideas, I'd love to hear them.......Please!!!

I hope you get more advice than the obsession with Monte Carlo springs!! If it is any help i have lots of photos of HGH's suspension,to which i could make a replica set up for your Clan! Took a long time to put together, and still requires a front anti-roll/stabiliser bar to make more options towards the ultimate Imp suspension! All in all avoid the poly bush stuff . I have nylon bushes at rear and nice big adjustable bearings at the front. I wanted adjustable bearings at the rear also like the Mason Stiletto had/has the last time i owned it,but it meant removing the rear bulkhead...Maybe there is room with a Clan!

Thanks chaps.
Yes Gerry I am at the National on Sunday, so I'll put my feelers out. David, I'm interested in your ideas, but I would like to get as much feedback as possible to decide the best route to go ie. money spent for performance return. Why steer clear of the Polybushes though, I thought everybody thinks that they are a good way to go? I'd be interested to know.
Cheers
Tim

Finally got around to fitting the rear parcel shelf diaphragm, unfortunately (fortunately) been too busy at work to get around to it. Got the week off with the family, so Tuesday is another Clan day, aim to put the sill diaphragms in and glass up the sun roof. What a lovely job!!!!!

Done the sun roof glassing, was going to finish the diaphragms, but I've had enough of fibreglass fumes today, having difficulty in peeling myself off the garage roof. Don't think I could work in that stuff all the time, but I've got a lot of respect for anybody that does, it's nearly as good as Marston's Pedigree, not as good as Bass though!!!

I just love the smell of Poly resin! Recently i have been doing the same making moulds. Most economical way to buy is "Reblend " ,in 25 kg drums ...so i've a lot to get through. May make up moulds of the Mk 1 Cortina rear wings to fabricate GRP,replacing the copious amount of filler due to accident damage decades ago which exists now! It was called rear end "Concitina" impact in those days to Mk 1's. More likely i will continue my fetish with aluminuim as per ongoing HGH work..See my ebay auction regarding front wheel spat/arches!! I recently bought a Stiletto from West Wales(lovely trip)to evaluate my roady version of the forced induction Imp engine..What i thought was a wreck has turned out to be a gem!! Been doing the celloluse trip on that ..Another favourite smell! This Stiletto will make a good HTS car in time when i have finished doing my bit on it!...Nice shell!

Nice to see that you've got a couple of options to go for on the HTS. Been away in Holland this weekend in an old bugger's football tournament, so work stopped, but it's all systems go from tomorrow.

Nein..Nien ! The Stiletto is going to be passed on when i have finished my project/installation with the roady S/C engine..All very nice for some person/s! HGH is being used now as plan C ,with the Fiat still in the background when my Son gets his act together(?)! At present HGH will continue as is for the Angelsy doings if it comes to fruit. That is after Jan as i need to do a ARDS test,or does the Angelsy club not require a circuit licence still! Being as i'm down to my last £100,000 things are going be tight though! The competition version of my S/C engine as in HGH now will have to be finished off and sold in 2010 to pay for a ...all been done before boring normal asprinated 1 litre unit!
Well done on the football thing! When i was 18ish i knocked my involvement in the local Sunday league on the head. As with my Motorsport plans at 21ish it is something i regret doing! Now at 57 all can do is listen on at CFC winning ways!
I was going to say that perhaps i could join a girls team, and certainly old bugger my way around that.,but i thought that would be too rude to mention!

Well, I know it's been six months since my last post, but I have done some work on the Clan, honest!!! All the diaphragms are now glassed in place and suspension is stripped down fully, car up on stands. Made several aquisitions, including lightweight front wishbones, strengthened cross member, another race engine (thought a spare may come in useful), combined inlet and outlet manifold, twin 40's, another big valve head, new lights, mounting brackets and indicators (going to be fully road legal) and a set of 13 x 5.5 Revolutions. Concentrating on the body and suspension rebuild first, before I decide which way to go with the engine. Got some photos, will post them when I can get around to it. Suspension rebuild next.......
