Hi everyone, I was thinking of doing a recce of either one or both Silverstone (1st August) or Mallory Park (9th August) historic race meetings! Both venues are quite local to me being near Loughborough! Havn't spectated at a race meeting for ages so no idea of admission charges . I understand that dogs are strictly prohibited so that means i will have to probably miss practice and so on due to my old girl being left on the boat for a long time. Maybe us elite potential 100/1000 competitors may like to congregate in a bit of social! David L

Sounds good David. I'm just half an hour from Silverstone and often there (we have season passes), in fact we're there for this weekend's classic. It's a big event with races on saturday and sunday, and if Santana floats your boat musicwise he's there saturday evening. Can't think what I'm up to on the1st August but if nothing else is happening I'll probably be there again.

We make sure that you tell any suitable competitor about 100/1000's then over the weekend. I use to really freak out to Santana in the 1970's ,but he seems to have lost that magic edge now! I'm not that keen on Siverstone for some reason. Think i'll leave it all for the Mallory event which is on the 9th Augustll Thats the HRSC round. I reckon there wil lbe a more of a selection of cars suitable for 100/1000's

I think Silverstone's appeal is that it has such a range of corners especially fast ones - despite being buggered about with over the years. Santana live was fab. The ARCC stand had just two clans and an imp, the vast majority being alpines & tigers. Mallory serves by far and away the best breakfast of all race circuits in the paddock cafe. Alas I'm busy for then and next week at Slitherstone, but wish you all the best in recruiting interest.
